Drawing Collaborations

Making Drawing Collaboration (2021- 2022):

Making

Crafts Study Centre

The Making Drawing show was kindly hosted at the Crafts Study Centre, Farnham, from 8th November to 17th Decmeber 2022. https://www.csc.uca.ac.uk/programme

This exhibition investigates the relationship between drawing and making through collaboration. Inspired by a conversation between a student and tutor at UCA, the idea for this project is simple. What would happen if artists exchanged drawings and then reinterpreted each other’s drawings in three dimensions, using ceramics or glass? At the heart of this project are two questions: how does drawing inform making, and how can collaboration enrich practice?

The idea has evolved into a project between ten students and tutors on the Ceramics and Glass Masters at UCA who all demonstrate a strong relationship between drawing and making within their practice.

This exhibition will show the drawings alongside the objects they inspired through collaboration.

The artists involved are Ana Maria Lopes, Anda Albu, Ashley Howard, Christina Dembinska, Jess Skelton, Lisa Ghiggini, Nicholas Lees, Pat Small, Paul Wheeler, Zillah Puri.
